Special Seminar on Genetics-Environment-Management
“Delivering Crop Insights to the Field.”
Mark Jeschke, Agronomy Manager- Corteva Agriscience
Monday, September 15th, 2025
Agronomy 3022, 3:00-4:00pm
Seminar Description: Scientific discovery does not become scientific progress until insights gained from research are delivered to those who can implement them. Supporting farmers by providing them with useful crop management information has been a core part of the Pioneer seed business for over 70 years. Over time, the pace of scientific discovery has accelerated, and the tools of information delivery have diversified, but the core mission has remained the same. In this seminar, I will talk about current practices and strategies for information delivery and discuss some recent examples of new and emerging topics in crop production.
Emerging topics include: Sudden death syndrome in soybeans, high night temperatures impact on corn yield, tassel wrap in corn and what effect persistent wildfire smoke could have on crop growth and yield
Professional Activities
Mark’s primary role is development and delivery of useful and timely agronomy information based on Corteva Agriscience and university agronomy research. These information resources cover a wide range of crop management topics focusing primarily on corn and soybean production in the United States and Canada. Since joining Pioneer in 2007, Mark has authored or co-authored over 300 agronomy articles, many of which are components of the Agronomy Essentials training curriculum for Corteva Agriscience employees. Individual articles have been translated into over a dozen different languages for use globally. A print compilation of new agronomy materials is published each year and distributed to over 20,000 growers in the U.S. and Canada. Current agronomy articles are publicly available in the Agronomy Library at www.pioneer.com.
