ISU Soybean Breeding Program Announces Eight New Varieties
April 30, 2025
The ISU soybean breeding program released eight new varieties, of which seven will undergo foundation seed increase in 2025. These varieties include numerous traits: high yield, good agronomics, soybean cyst nematode resistance, sudden death syndrome resistance, white mold resistance, flooding tolerance, soybean aphid resistance, and high oil. These varieties were developed through support of the R.F. Baker Center for Plant Breeding, the Iowa Soybean Association, and the United Soybean Board.
- IAS25C2 is a mid-maturity group 2 yellow hilum soybean variety with high yield and PI88788 source of soybean cyst nematode resistance (SCN). It has high yield performance across multiple states and strong agronomic performance.

- IAS29C1 is a late maturity group 2 soybean variety with high yield, PI88788 SCN resistance, good tolerance to sudden death syndrome (SDS) and white mold diseases, good standability, and good tolerance to waterlogging conditions. It has resistance to soybean aphid biotype 1 (Rag2), and molecular marker data indicate Rps1k for phytophthora root resistance.
- IAS29C3 is a late maturity group 2 soybean variety with high yield, Peking SCN resistance, excellent agronomic performance, and seed oil ~24% (dry weight basis).
- IAS29C4 is a late maturity group 2 soybean variety with high yield, Peking SCN resistance, excellent agronomic performance, and seed oil ~24% (dry weight basis).
- IAS31C2 is an early maturity group 3 soybean variety with high seed yield, good standability, resistance to SDS and white mold, improved flooding tolerance, and Peking SCN resistance. It has higher seed oil ~24% (dry weight basis).
- IAS32C1 is an early maturity group 3 soybean variety with high yield, Peking SCN resistance, SDS disease resistance, and excellent agronomic performance.
- IAS34C1 is a high-yielding, mid-maturity group 3 soybean variety with Peking SCN resistance and excellent agronomic performance. agronomic performance.
