Baker Center Faculty Honored with University Awards
Three faculty members affiliated with Iowa State University's Baker Center for Plant Breeding have been recognized with top honors in the university’s 2025 awards celebration, highlighting their exceptional contributions to research, mentorship, and international service.
Dr. Asheesh (Danny) Singh, professor and G.F. Sprague Chair in Agronomy, received the Margaret Ellen White Graduate Faculty Award, which honors outstanding mentorship and impact on graduate students. Singh also played a key role in the Soynomics interdisciplinary research team, which earned the Award for Interdisciplinary Team Research for advancing soybean genomics and breeding through collaborative innovation.
Dr. Arti Singh, associate professor of agronomy, was also a member of the award-winning Soynomics team, recognized for its groundbreaking work in integrating plant breeding with artificial intelligence and data science to improve crop performance.

Dr. Thomas Lubberstedt, professor and K.J. Frey Chair in Agronomy, was honored with the International Service Award, acknowledging his significant contributions to global agricultural research and education.
These awards reflect the Baker Center’s continued leadership in advancing plant breeding science and its commitment to excellence in research, education, and global engagement.
