ISU Alumni Named 2026 Bayer Crop Science Fellows
Two Iowa State University (ISU) graduates—Betsabe Mantilla Pérez and Songlin Hu—have been selected as members of the 2026 Bayer Crop Science Fellows class, a program recognizing top scientific leaders across Bayer’s global R&D organization.
Betsabe Mantilla Perez, part of Bayer’s U.S. Breeding team, earned her Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics at ISU under Dr. Maria Salas‑Fernandez, where she conducted research on sorghum phenotyping and genetics.
Songlin Hu, now recognized within Bayer’s Vegetables R&D division, was also listed in the 2026 Fellows class and completed his Ph.D. at ISU under Dr. Thomas Lubberstedt.
Both alumni were active participants in Baker Center programs, including student support, seminars, and symposia—making their recognition a meaningful reflection of ISU’s impact on global agricultural innovation.
