The Raymond F. Baker Center for Plant Breeding at Iowa State University is pleased to announce that Dr. David Bubeck will be presented with the award:

Dr. David Bubeck obtained his B.S. in Agronomy in 1986 and M.S. in Plant Breeding and Cytogenetics in 1987 from Iowa State University, and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Crop Science in 1991 from North Carolina State University. After working as a corn breeder in Northrup King Co. (Sandoz, Novartis, Syngenta), he joined Pioneer Hi-Bred, now Corteva, in February 1998 as a Research Coordinator in Corn Breeding and became a Research Director in 2000. He conducted a corn breeding program and subsequently led various parts of the North America and Southern Europe corn breeding programs through 2013. Since then, he has had several responsibilities, including Corn Platform Product Program Director, leading Global Trait Integration, Global Plant Pathology, and Global Parent Characterization.

Dr. Dave Bubeck is currently a Research Director
and Seed Product Development (SPD) Global Breeding Alliances Lead at Corteva. Dr. Bubeck serves the Corteva plant breeding organization through the effort of a Seed Product Commercialization team, drives global germplasm intellectual property protection, and provides a connection point for SPD with regulatory, compliance, stewardship, and advocates for the benefits of plant breeding. Among many leadership positions in different professional organizations, Dr. Bubeck is a Past President of the National Association for Plant Breeding (NAPB), the current President of the Seed Science Foundation (SSF), and a member of the Board of Directors for the Living History Farms. For numerous students, early career scientists, and colleagues in plant breeding and genetics, Dr. Bubeck’ wide impact is best described as “a caring mentor” who offers encouragement, guidance, and a strong sense of community.
